Good Morning, Sitges!

These pictures were taken a while ago, the first day of October to be exact, in Sitges, Spain.

It was one fine morning and I was very lucky to see the beauty of this part of the world.  It was supposed to start to get a bit chilly even in Spain as it was supposedly early autumn. But thanks to the heatwaves that blew over Europe that time, the weather was pretty warm. FYI,  that’s very important for me!

I thought I was late as the sky had started to brighten up when I got up. I was lucky as the sun was just peeking up when I got there. I always find it a bit tricky to take pictures during sunrise. Everything just look so great you don’t know which one to take first and you don’t have much time to decide.

If only I could take the sun with me to Aberdeen…

Highland Games, Aberdeen

It’s a warming up and practice for my photo shoot skill before I see to the Royal Highland Games – If I get to see it this year.. Hopefully :D

Despite the typical unpredictable Scottish weather, I did enjoy watching the dances, the food, the games, the music, and of course, men wearing skirt, upss.. kilts :)

The Heroes of the ‘Local Hero’

Have you seen the film Local Hero? It’s a Scottish comedy-drama, directed by Bill Forsyth, produced in 1983. The story is about an American oil company sends a man to Scotland to buy up an entire village where they want to build a refinery. Starring Peter Riegert, Burt Lancaster, Fulton Mackay, the film won the Bafta Award.

I’m not going to rumble on about the film, in fact, I’m going to talk about the ‘silent heroes’ which plays important roles in the movie and help other stars to shine. I must say, I’m lucky to finally meet and spend some few hours with them. Here they are..

The small village called Pennan, which located in the edge of North East coast, Scotland. What you see in the picture is actually the entire village. In the movie, it’s named Ferness.

The Pennan Inn, in which the main character stays during his visit in the village.

The red telephone and post box, which appear almost in the entire film and become the most important props in the film

My Beloved Indonesia

Just before I moved to Aberdeen I’d managed to have a short holiday to Lombok, Bali, Solo and Yogyakarta. Unfortunately, I didn’t take many photos there. I was looking through the photo album from the holiday and thinking it’s probably worth sharing the beauty that my beloved country, Indonesia, has. I promise myself to capture amazing Indonesia next time I come home and share them to you.

Unwanted Beauty

Weeds! The enemy of all gardens. I know it could be annoying when your garden filled with them, but when I took a closer look at them, they somehow looked pretty, fragile and harmless.

A Short Day in St Andrews, Scotland

Apart from its historical background, St Andrews is known not only as the ‘Home of Golf’, but also as the place where the Royal couple, Prince William & Kate Middleton first met.  However, I am not going to talk about those two subjects, particularly the Will-Kate one. It was the historical background and the landscape that had drawn my attention.

Below are some photos of the St. Andrews Cathedral and the castle, which now lie in ruins

Greeting the day!

Hello people!

Welcome to my first post. As this is my first writing, I’m sure it’s lacking lots of things, but I’ll pick it up as I go along.  And I also just started to learn my old neglected hobby, photography, so mind all the flaws in the photos, and again, I’m trying to improve the skill every time. I hope you enjoy photos as I will enjoy yours.

This sun rise photos were taken on winter solstice, 21st December 2010, in Aberdeen, Scotland. The sun was glaring after hiding behind the cloud for quite a while. It was below freezing that morning and there was some snow lying on the ground where I was standing. As you can imagine, it was bitterly cold, especially for me who come from a tropical warm (hot) country. The wind was blowing pretty strong (they say by Aberdeen standard it was nothing though), it created such dramatic effect in the last picture. However, I was so keen on getting up of my bed, greeting the sun on that particular day as it would only be shinning in its shortest time of the year. It’s always a great feeling and experience to enjoy the nature.
